This is an opportunity for a forward-looking and enthusiastic respiratory physician to join our expanding team. The post-holder will be responsible for the continued delivery and further development of an already well-established Respiratory service at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and will be based at the University Hospital Lewisham site. We would be interested in a person with sub-specialty interest to complement our existing services, however general respiratory applicants are also welcomed.

This post is permanent. The successful applicant will be part of the current team of ten respiratory Consultants (4 at UHL site), across both sites who are responsible for running the services in the Trust across Lewisham hospital and Queen Elizabeth hospital. The Respiratory Team on the UHL site is supported by 2 specialist registrars and a team of junior doctors. In addition, there are 4 respiratory specialist nurses and a specialist respiratory physiotherapist, 2 clinical physiologists, TB specialist nurses, a lung cancer MDT coordinator and 2 Lung Cancer Clinical nurse specialists. Consultants on the Lewisham site currently deliver clinics in TB, Cystic Fibrosis, Lung Cancer, Pleural, Sarcoid/ILD and NIV, as well as bronchoscopy and pleural lists, inpatient NIV, respiratory and GIM care. It is anticipated the postholder will lead on airways disease and support the Integrated Respiratory Team. Further services available at the QEH site include Sleep, EBUS and advanced Pleural care. Regular MDTs with colleagues at local tertiary centres take place in a number of sub-specialty areas.

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust was established in October 2013, following the integration of Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich. We are also a major teaching site for medical students and a well-regarded training hospital for junior doctors. Applicants will be expected to contribute to these activities.
