Post Title: Apprentice Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician

Post Ref:389-A-21-46998

Contract: 2 Year Fixed Term

Grade: Agenda for Change Band 4 Annex 21

Salary: £24,157 Pro Rata per Annum - 70% First Year (£16,909), 75% Second Year (£18,117)

Department: Pharmacy

Location: Rotational throughout the Pharmacy Department - BRI/SLH/LMH

Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week Including Late Night, Weekend and Bank Holiday Rota Duties

Brief Description of the Role:

We are looking for individuals who have a keen interest in training to become a Pharmacy Technician. The post offers 2 years comprehensive training in all aspects of Hospital Pharmacy with an emphasis on dispensary and ward work. This is a demanding role that requires the post holder to fulfil all the requirements of working full time, on a rotational basis throughout Pharmacy Technical Services, while undertaking the qualification. You will attend Bradford College on day release and also study independently towards a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians. This will require you to study both at work and in your own time at home.

Individuals will need to be highly organised and motivated and be capable of meeting multiple deadlines. You must be able to plan your own studies at home and be able to complete all work punctually. The majority of study will be completed in your own time and you should expect to dedicate at least 10 hours each week to this. We are therefore looking for individuals who can guarantee this type of commitment. This is a post suitable only for those dedicated to becoming a pharmacy technician and who are able to put in the necessary hard work consistently over the 2 year contract.

You must have least 5 GCSEs at grades A-C (or the new GCSE grade 4-9) including Maths, English Language and Two Science subjects or equivalent.

As the training course fees are paid for from the government funded apprenticeship scheme, please note that some qualifications you currently hold may render you ineligible to apply for this post, as funding is dependent on previous qualifications. If you do not hold the required qualifications or already hold a Degree in a closely related subject for the post that you have applied for, unfortunately you will not be eligible for this apprenticeship and you will not be shortlisted.

We would expect applicants to have a clear understanding of the role of a Pharmacy Technician or have previous experience of working in a pharmacy.

Students who successfully complete the 2 year course will be eligible to apply to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Successful applicants for this post will be asked to do a short calculations and accuracy test at interview.

Please note: the start date will be from 3rd August 2021 onwards.

For further information please contact Michele Ackroyd on 01274 366976 or via E-mail [email protected].
