Applications are invited for a secondment opportunity on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract for a Band 8b Pathology Practice Educator Coordinator.

The role will be hosted by University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire (UHCW) based across the Midlands & East 4 Pathology Network including University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Wye Valley NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly to deliver on key performance indicators and liaise with existing laboratory training officers to support and predict workforce planning and training needs across the ME4 Pathology Network.

The post holder will ideally already have links with local education establishments and will need to engage and liaise with such providers to identify potential funding streams and candidates for the future workforce. They will be competent and confident in developing communications and publicity to attract applicants to the network.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply their initiative, innovation and drive to scope the workforce needs of the proposed network including a full non-medical workforce planning exercise, a current and future training needs analysis and delivery of the National Pathology Workforce Rapid Intervention Plan for COVID Testing Skills.

The role will also encompass apprenticeship workforce development and requires close working with existing regional apprentice network leads for both employer and HEE apprentice networks.

Reporting to the Diagnostic Services Program Director /SRO the successful candidate will identify specific gaps within the workforce skillsets and develop bespoke programs of work to support the network and the individual laboratories within the network.

There will be a requirement to complete the associated Development of the Practice Educator Program 2021 -supported by the Academy of Healthcare Science.

The role will be hosted by UHCW but will likely be a mix of home, field and laboratory bases to match the demands and needs of the laboratories across the Midlands & East 4 network. An expectation to travel between laboratory locations within the network will be required.
