Your work will involve storing and shipping of biological samples, as well as general lab management duties to ensure the laboratory environment is maintained to a high standard.

You will work as part of a small team but regularly liaise with other Achilles teams on site to help with every day tasks as well as:
  • Supporting the team with sample handling, processing and management
  • Stock ordering, receipt and organising stock inventory
  • Organising shipments
  • Maintaining general lab cleanliness
  • Help maintain GCLP compliance
  • Administrative duties, e.g. completing and filing sample processing paperwork in accordance with GCLP and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) guidelines
  • You will operate within in a highly regulated environment giving you an opportunity to develop excellent attention to detail, technical scienfitic skills, and an understanding of GCLP regulations and requirements.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Processing and storing Translational Science clinical trial samples from patients
  • Completing sample processing paperwork in accordance with GCLP and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) guidelines
  • Organising shipping of samples to other Achilles sites and external vendor labs
  • General lab management duties including stock checking and ordering
  • Regular maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment
  • Assisting with organising repair/servicing/calibration of laboratory equipment
  • Assisting with document management and writing of standard operating procedures
  • Filing assay and trial related documents

Desired qualifications

  • For entry to the Technician Scientist (Level 5) apprenticeship you must have a total of 80 UCAS points including preferably a B in A-Level Biology or equivalent. Alternative experience and qualifications will be considered
  • No previous work experience is required for this role but a strong motivation to work in the industry of Advanced Therapies must be shown
