ELFT has long been recognised as a centre of excellence for mental and health care, innovation and improvement. So it is a very exciting time for you to come and work for us. Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and innovative Consultant Psychologist to join ELFT in Bedfordshire and Luton as the Professional Lead for Psychological Therapies Services for working age and older adult secondary care services, including community mental health, crisis/urgent pathways, inpatient services, and health psychology.

This opportunity comes at an exciting and challenging time of developing and delivering transformation of mental health services in line with the NHS Long Term Plan across primary and secondary care, crisis pathways and inpatient provision for people with complex and severe mental health needs. With a strong emphasis on expansion of psychological therapies and embedding psychologically-informed approaches, the postholder will take a central role in shaping the vision as part of the senior leadership in Bedfordshire and Luton, working to engage with service users, carers, the workforce and partner organisations and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience both providing and leading psychological services across a range of settings for people with complex mental health problems, consistently demonstrating compassion and meaningful co-production. They will take a creative approach to workforce development, with a commitment to increased diversity and inclusion within the psychological workforce, and be enthusiastic about new community-based approaches to intervention to improve population health based on a knowledge of the diverse needs of our local communities.

The postholder will have a keen understanding of the use of both quantitative and qualitative data to underpin governance and drive service improvements and research, and will make an active contribution to ELFTs renowned Quality Improvement programme. The role is a member of the multidisciplinary Directorate Management Team across Bedfordshire and Luton, and works closely with the Trusts Director of Therapies and other senior therapies colleagues to lead on trust-wide governance and developments of the therapies workforce. The postholder will also be a member of an active Regional Psychology Advisory Group for the East of England, meeting regularly with other regional NHS Trust psychology leads and HEI providers. We are linked with the DClinPsy programme at University of Hertfordshire for placement and teaching provision, have links with UCL for CBT training in SMI presentations, and are excited to have recently employed our first cohort of Clinical Associates in Psychology apprentices who are accessing training via a partnership between EPUT and University of Essex.

The base for the post can be negotiated in either Bedford or Luton, and with a mixture of office-based and remote working supported.

Bedfordshire and Luton is accessible to London and much of the South East, East of England and Midlands with excellent road and rail links for commuting. Housing in the county is affordable in settings from attractive market towns and villages to picturesque countryside, and a range of excellent schooling for raising families.
