Rehabilitation / Health Care Support Workers

(including Apprenticeships)

Band 2 - Minimum of 30 hours

If you are caring, compassionate and enthusiastic and would like to be part of our care team providing rehabilitation to adults and older people in their own homes and want to enable them to remain independent in the community, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for people with a strong value base from a broad range of backgrounds and experience.

Rehabilitation Support workers will work as part of the Neighbourhood Therapy team alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists in the community (a multi-disciplinary team of nursing and allied health professionals who work across our community.) The successful candidates will be required to provide practical assistance in carrying out everyday living tasks and rehabilitation/therapy support to our patients, to encourage them to develop their daily living skills and realise their potential to live as independently as possible.

The team provide assessment, treatment and support within patient's own homes and spot-purchased nursing care homes, based on patient need and dependency levels.

You should have a desire to work in the NHS, be motivated and flexible as this role will require you to work a shift pattern, which will include weekends and bank holidays. Successful candidates will be working across the Barnsley area therefore the use of a vehicle to undertake any necessary travel in connection with the duties of the post is essential.

You must have A-D/ grade 3-9 GCSE's or equivalent, in Math's and English, and must be able to provide your certificates.

If you do not already hold an appropriate level 2 (or above) qualification in health and social care you will be supported to achieve the level 2 qualification via an Apprenticeship route. Your first 15 months of employment will include time at college for formal study. (NB If you are recruited as an apprentice and you have GCSE grades D or 3 you will be required to undertake level 2 Functional Skills as part of your college attendance).

You must be aged 18 or over to apply and must be able to provide certified evidence of all relevant qualifications (statement of results is not adequate).

You will be employed on a substantive basis on 37.5 hours per week.

The starting salary will be £18,005 per annum (average pay £22,500 up to £24,500 including unsocial hours, bank, etc); however relevant NHS experience will be recognised on the band 2 payscale. Progression up the scale will be subject to achievement of the qualification (if applicable) and evidence of satisfactory progression.

You will be entitled to a minimum of 27 days annual leave plus 8 days statutory bank holidays over the 12-month period.

You must have:
  • Been a resident in the UK/EU for the last three years.
  • Not be currently undertaking any form of formal government-funded education.
