As anApprentice Estimator, you will assist the Estimating and wider Commercial team by carrying out related activities including the production of accurate cost information whilst receiving an introduction and training to Estimating practice.

A minimum of a Level 3/BTEC Diploma/2 A Levels (or equivalent).
Full and valid driving licence (would be an advantage due to the nature of the role).
An A level in Mathematics is Desirable)

What do I need to achieve and deliver to be effective in this job?
- Assist the Estimator in the production of accurate cost information, helping to evaluate the risks and cost of construction abnormals in formulating the budget
- Understand and support with updating construction budgets on a regular basis and preparing a schedule of standard house type prices for land feasibility purposes
- Liaise with Architects/Design Engineers on matters of preliminary Design and Engineering solutions
- Assist with the maintaining and updating of the Estimating Cost Library, through discussions with Buyers and Quantity Surveyors
- Analyse and record trade tender return information, assisting the Estimator in the assessment of new or alternative products

- You will possess a high level of mathematical ability and problem-solving skills
- Experience with using a variety of Microsoft Office packages, with a particular proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- You may have previous experience working in the Construction industry, although this is not essential
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a wider team, prioritising and organising your own workload
- Good IT skills - good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
Personal qualities
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- You will have a keenness to take on additional training/qualifications as required and to acquire a sound knowledge of quantity surveying in the building industry process
- A keenness to learn and develop in your role, both practically through the nature of the work and also by obtaining relevant academic qualifications as required
