Can You Find The Best Way To Grow Our Network?
Want to start building a planning career with one of the UK's most free-thinking and fun-loving companies? Or would you rather continue studying, learning and working towards professional qualifications? Join us on our 18-month Planning Apprenticeship Scheme and you can do both!
Who are our Planning Teams?
At Virgin Media, our Planners are responsible for keeping our special network ahead of the game and enable us to continue expanding our network - they liaise with internal departments and our valued business customers to make sure their needs are met.
Let's talk about what you'll be doing:
Our Planning Apprenticeship Scheme is a fantastic opportunity for you to start your career with one of the UK's most forward-thinking and fun-loving companies.
With the heartfelt guidance of your scheme mentor and other colleagues, you'll learn how to produce detailed, accurate and efficient plans to get our leading services out to customers. You'll also find out how to put together all the required drawings and information that our contract partners need to get the job done.
As well as discussing our customers' needs - by visiting their premises and arranging surveys to make sure they get what they want, when they need it - you'll also be working closely with our internal teams, providing information that will help us do business better.
Ensuring design documents are planned to specification, handling multiple customer orders, controlling costs and coming up with new ways of making our customers' lives easier are also hallmarks of a successful Planner.
What you're going to learn:
Over the course of the scheme, you will develop a detailed understanding of our cutting-edge technology, including all the elements of our network infrastructure (fibre, HFC, copper etc.). You will also gain experience of various project management techniques including planning, resource allocation, prioritisation and evaluation.
How are you going to get there?
We're looking for people who are passionate about building a career in telecommunications and who can work effectively as part of a larger team. You'll be responsible for managing your own diary to complete all your tasks, so good organisational skills are a must. Managing customers is a big part of the role. So, it's also important that you're a great communicator. The nature of this role is mainly desk-based but also, on occasion, you will be required to travel to other customer sites within your region to complete surveys. Virgin Media offer great opportunities for flexible working so you will have the ability to work from home in addition to working from our offices.
By the end of the apprenticeship, your scheme mentor and workmates will have helped you add lots more capabilities to your locker, along with the experience and understanding you need to start a successful career. Plus, you'll enjoy a great salary with amazing benefits from the start!
