Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.

The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use V alue Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.

Hello!

My name is Jane Pyatt, my role as the Lead Practitioner Development Technician for the OUHFT Pharmacy Department means that I am privileged to lead the training for our fantastic team of Pharmacy Level 3 apprentices, enabling them to gain the skills necessary to become a Pharmacy Technician rotating within the pharmacy departments across the trust. Pharmacy Technicians are essential members of the pharmacy team working under the supervision of a Pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care for the patient. The duties are varied, and it is not simply a matter of counting tablets. The duties include dispensing medicines, managing medicines on the wards, counselling patients how to take their medicines, purchasing/ stock control of medicines and preparing medicines for clinical trials in our aseptic unit. I am currently looking for 10 level 3 Pharmacy apprentices to join our Pharmacy department.

During your 27 month contract full practical in-house training will be provided, working towards your Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians award, this will provide you with the skills to work as a Pharmacy Technician. You must be a team player, keen to further your education, and have a good attention to detail as well as the ability to work accurately in a busy environment and be able to communicate clearly with patients and staff.

If you have GCSE'S in Maths, English, and 2 science subjects or Double Science at grade C/4 or above (please ensure you specify these in your application) and would be interested in an informal discussion about the role, then I would be pleased to speak to you! Please feel free to contact me on the numbers below or via my email, or, even better make an appointment for me to show you around and answer your questions.
