Support the future NHS and create opportunities for recruitments and career development in Primary Care! This pivotal role is an exciting opportunity to support and further develop Nursing apprenticeship placements and the Talent for Care and Widening Access and Participation agendas across the Black Country and West Birmingham.

The support for work experience and clinical placements is crucial to ensuring an excellent learning experience and increase the recruitment and retention of apprentices. We aim for each learner to be proud to train and start their professional careers in Primary Care in the Black Country and West Birmingham. As part of our Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme and clinical placement expansion plan, the successful applicant will work with the Training Hub and take a lead on:

  • Support the on-going development of a pipeline of recruitment and professional development for nurses working in Primary Care
  • Actively promote the benefits of Nursing apprenticeships to Primary Care
  • Growing capacity and capability in Primary Care to facilitate workplace learning for pre-registration, apprentices and return-to-practice learners
  • Working collaboratively with universities and Primary Care to increase number of apprentices supported throughout primary care environments
  • Building a database of new, existing and expanding placement areas in Primary Care
  • Building a register of student supervisors and assessors in Primary Care
  • Collate feedback from apprentices and practices and share good practice
  • Creating placement profiles to promote Primary Care as both a placement and an employer
  • Supporting the process of levy transfer where required.
  • Supporting the Talent for Care and Widening Access and Participation agendas.
  • Promoting work experience and the online work-related learning agenda.
    • Support practices in the recruitment of new qualifiers


The post holder will be well supported and have access to regular 1:1 support, weekly team meetings and monthly operational group meetings.

The applicant will be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health and Care Professions Council or have experience of working as a placement coordinator an NHS environment or a Higher/Further Education Institute within a health-related faculty. The applicant must be competent with information technology - namely Microsoft Office applications - and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Integral to all of this is the ability to communicate effectively - adopting the CCG's values with sensitivity and compassion, and to manage relationships with people.

The role is primarily based in Wolverhampton, however agile working enables flexibility with work-bases. The post holder will be required to travel across the Black Country and West Birmingham and there will be opportunities for homeworking and agile working subject to risk assessments. Reasonable adjustments will be made if required as practicable.

The post is fixed term for 6 months. A secondment arrangement is an option following agreement with the host manager. As a guideline, working hours are weekdays 9am-5pm or 8am-4pm but there may be some requirement to work outside of these hours when liaising with practices. Part time hours considered.
