Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Physician with special interest in Infectious diseases or Genitourinary medicine.

This is a fixed term one year post to cover maternity leave. The post holder will have the opportunity to work across general medicine and in addition will provide specialist cover for either infectious diseases and / or HIV & sexual health, depending on the skill set of the successful candidate. The postholder may contribute towards the expansion of the infectious diseases services at Kings including an ID ward consult service and infectious diseases outpatient clinics. The post could also be suitable for consultants in Sexual Health and HIV who have significant General Medical experience. It is envisaged that the appointee will contribute to the development and delivery of aspects of these services depending upon their interests and experience. The postholder will contribute to the General medical consultant on call rota.

The individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the HIV department while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff.

The appointed physician will be based in the department of HIV medicine (Caldecot Centre) and will join King's College Hospital, Denmark Hill at an exciting phase of transformation and investment in our acute and general medicine services. The post is based primarily at the Denmark Hill site of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The service is situated in an area of South London with high local prevalence of HIV. Our diverse local population is disproportionally affected by high STI rates, and late diagnosis of HIV. In addition to the busy clinical service, the department has an active teaching and training programme and a wide-ranging portfolio of research studies which the successful candidate will be expected to actively contribute to.
