The Role:

Our client a prestigious and highly recognised wealth management firm.

The Company:

This role is a fantastic opportunity for a bright Economics or Investment related graduate with a keen interest to pursue a career as a Portfolio Manager longer term, and to join a highly credible Wealth Management firm.

The Trainee Portfolio Manager will be responsible for the creation of orders including stock trades, funds and FX transactions and monitoring the performance of private client portfolios.

The Trainee Portfolio Manager will perform analysis of private client portfolios, regularly checking the portfolios to see if there are any discrepancies such as abnormally large sector, stock or country weightings. Bring these findings to the attention of the Portfolio Manager and propose any changes.

Implementation of asset allocation changes and manage the ongoing administration tasks required daily on client investment management portfolios - including liaising with Back Office Operations for transitions, corporate actions, cash movements, contract notes, trade settlement etc.

The Trainee Portfolio Manager, at the direction of desk head will attend meetings and undertake investment research into companies and funds, and gradually develop a detailed analytical ability to form a key part of the investment decision process - including writing of stock selection notes to discuss with the Wealth Managements wider team.

The Trainee Portfolio Manager will assist the Portfolio Manager in ensuring that the Wealth Management client portfolios are compliant with benchmarks, guidelines and restrictions, raising any issues with the Portfolio Manager.

The Trainee Portfolio Manager will contribute to the overall marketing and business development processes for the Wealth Management and Portfolio Management team.

The Candidate:

A recent Economics or Investment Management graduate - Minimum 2.1

'A' grades in Maths at A level

Some Investment Management / Wealth Management internship experience would be highly desired.

A keen interest in Wealth Management and keen to pursue a career in Portfolio Management

A desire to work towards Investment Management industry qualifications.

Basic understanding of portfolio construction (asset allocation/stock selection).

Understand investment risk, different types of asset classes and a basic understanding of capital gains and income tax
