Analytical Chemist - Graduate Opportunity
Permanent
Hours: 8.30am - 5pm
Location: Broadstairs

We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven and motivated graduate chemist, with or without prior experience in industry, possessing strong technical knowledge of organic and analytical chemistry.

Job Purpose

To provide chromatographic, spectroscopic, microscopical and wet chemical analysis services in support of factory operations, R&D development projects, customer complaint resolution processes and other technical functions, in line with business strategy: to plan and conduct experimental work agreed with counterparties, evaluate the relevance and quality of any data obtained, draw conclusions, document the work conducted and communicate subsequent results.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The job holder responds to either a Section Head or Principal Scientist and is responsible for the following key deliverables:

To be able to demonstrate a competent level of technical skills and knowledge and show continuous improvement in these abilities.
To ensure effective and accurate recording and communication of results.
To ensure that all assigned work is delivered in a timely manner and all associated requirements are fully met.
Under the direction of their manager, plans and carries out lab work to provide analytical support to technical functions in line with agreed business strategy. Qualifications & Experience

Essential

Degree in Chemistry.
Excellent mathematics skills.
High level of computer literacy: adaptable to unfamiliar software packages.
Interrogative and enthusiastic to develop skills & experience.
Laboratory experience in an analytical role (work placement or industrial post).
Laboratory experience in the inks or coatings industry.
Specific training/certification in Liquid Chromatography and/or Gas Chromatography.
Specific operational experience in HRAM LC-MS/MS, SEC, SEM or FTIR.Key Competencies for this role:

Attention to detail - achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved.
Reasoning - demonstrates the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense, and to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
