The Apprenticeconsultant role is supported by guided learning paths written by senior consultants, regular development reviews, and involvement in team projects. This approach is aligned with Pentest People's focus on learning and development in relaxed environment, allowing individuals with a true passion for cyber security to flourish.

This role is hands-on involvement in security assessments of Web and Mobile applications, internal and external infrastructures, firewall and VPN configurations, and some managed services.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Light project scoping to determine required quantity of days necessary for assessments
  • Performing external infrastructure, web application, and firewall ruleset assessments
  • Liaising with clients to delivery assessment reports and discuss results
  • Run managed services such as managed external vulnerability scanning
  • Shadowing senior consultants on complex assessments and providing assistance


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Familiarity with OWASP ZAP and/or Portswigger Burp Suite
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning solutions such as Nessus
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP and general networking protocols and concepts
  • Good understanding of Web technologies and languages
  • Confident in at least one scripting language such as Python or Ruby
  • Working knowledge of Windows/Linux Operating systems and applications
  • The ability to react quickly and efficiently under pressure
  • Good communication skills as you will be reporting regularly to management and other stakeholders

  • Able to work without direct supervision


Desired qualifications

  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent including English and maths grade 9 - 4 or A*- C
  • 3 A Levels including maths
