NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) supplies safe blood, tissues and solid organs to UK hospitals. Recruiting the right people at the right time is key to our success and we want you to be part of that.

As an apprentice within Cellular and Molecular Therapies within NHSBT, you will carry out scientific experimentation, laboratory investigations and production activities across the manufacture of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) and stem cell transplantation. You will use specialised technical skills and advanced scientific techniques following procedures developed for project operational plans to deliver as part of a wider professional team. You will operate within a highly regulated environment including clean rooms because of the need to control quality and safety of Advanced Therapies, and use your awareness of the research context to contribute to the development of new scientific processes.

You will be joining a friendly Laboratory where teamwork is highly valued as well as being paid a completive salary. This role is paid at60% of Band 5 in the first year, increasing throughout the apprenticeship to attain 75% of the Band 5 salary once within 12 months of completion of the apprenticeship.

You will study towards the Level 5 Technician Scientist apprenticeship with Applied Bioscience FdSc with the University of Kent. You will also have the opportunity to join the Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community.

As the workforce at NHSBT is under represented by 16-18 year olds we would welcome applications from this age group.

Due to eligibility for government funded apprenticeship schemes you are eligible to apply for this post if you are living in England and not taking part in full-time education, you are aged 16 or over and you do not hold a similar qualification.
