Our ED has a fantastic opportunity for RCEM credentialed Lead ACP.

The aim of the role is to lead, and develop the evolving team, as well as to integrate the emerging role within the ED clinical team structure and the wider division and trust.

The role of the lead ACP will encompass:

Service development and redesign, - Workforce planning, - Innovative role development, - Recruitment and retention, - Training and development - Professional supervision and development to underpin the provision of sustainable high quality services
  • In consultation with Educational supervisors and professional lead undertake annual tACP appraisals and ARCPs
  • Attend and represent the team at ACP ED faculty meetings
  • Provide pastoral care of tACPs
  • Meet regularly with the tACPs to confirm progress with RCEM/UWE/HEE requirements, and develop action plans in conjunction with educational supervisors as required.
  • In the absence of educational supervisors attend UWE tripartite meetings with ACP apprentices.
  • IN conjunction with the wider team, advertise and take part in the selection process for tACPs and ACPs as required.
  • Contribute to and develop clinical governance structures with the ACP team and wider ED
  • Keep an overview of qualified ACP rotas to ensure they meet service requirements
  • Lead and collaborate in developing the scope of practice of the ACP team eg: radiology investigation requesting, development of sedation within legal and clinical governance structures
  • Keep abreast and share developments in ACP practice both professionally and educationally locally and nationally eg South West Faculty of Advanced Practice and RCEM ECACPS
  • Contribute to education programme, as required eg local tACP programme, UWE ACP apprenticeship, trust wide MDT advanced practice forum, and trust wide NMP forum

Actively seek opportunities to take part in ACP research and service evaluation

The post also attract protected CPD/SPA time each month, whatever your interests we can support you in developing them: clinical research, patient safety, ultrasound, and education for example. The ACP team is supported by a medical lead (EM consultant) and a managerial lead (deputy head of nursing).

The ED has strong links with the local university and ACP apprenticeship masters programme.
