FIXED TERM 18 MONTHS

Brief Description of the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic, motivated individuals to join the Born in Bradford (BiB) and Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaboration (YHARC) teams.

We are looking for one Apprentice Administrative Assistant to provide admin support to the BiB Project Office and Community Research teams. The post will assist in data entry, mail outs, booking and arranging meetings, providing a telephone reception service for the office as well as some hands-on recruitment to our studies.

We are also looking for one Apprentice Administrative Assistant to provide admin support to the YHARC and ActEarly Team. This post will assist in data entry, booking and arranging meetings, providing a telephone reception service for the office as well as assisting in communications work for the project.

Applicants will need to be adaptable and flexible in their approach to work and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must be reliable and trustworthy and be willing to be responsible for your own self-development. You will have good people skills and demonstrate a caring and empathetic approach to others; you may have already worked in an office environment already in a paid or voluntary capacity.

Successful candidates will be employed on a 18 month (37.5 hours per week) fixed term contract.

Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:

The successful candidate will be expected to have good attention to detail, have a methodical approach to their work, excellent ICT skills, good numeracy and literacy. Qualifications required for the post are

A*-C or 9-4 grades in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent qualification e.g. functional skills level 2).

Successful candidates would be supported to undertake NVQ training in administration and released one day a week to do this (dependent on the educational provider).

You will earn a wage whilst working towards a Diploma Level 2 in Business Administration over an 18 month period, with entitlement to 27 days holiday plus bank holidays. You will have 1 dedicated study day a week and 1:1 support throughout the Apprenticeship, as well as a mentor within your department. The qualification is fully funded and you will not have to pay anything towards it.

There is an eligibility criterion for government funded apprenticeship schemes that applies and therefore applicants should be aged 16 or over and have been resident in the UK/EU for the last three years. You must not hold a degree, level four qualification or above and have been resident in the UK/EU for the last three years.

Whilst this post does not guarantee permanent employment, successful completion of the Apprenticeship will provide you with the skills and experience required to apply for future administration positions within the NHS. Many apprentices who have worked for our Trust have found full time roles within the Trust or within other local organisations and the opportunity to develop their career.
