The Public Health division at Nottinghamshire County Council commissions a range of Public Health services and works with partner organisations to improve health and wellbeing in the population and reduce health inequalities. Due to Covid-19 we are now looking to recruit 2 x Public Health Support Officer - Apprenticeship posts - (posts will be based on 80% of the bottom spinal column point of band B with yearly increment but same percentage). These posts will support the Covid-19 response and the delivery of the Nottinghamshire Local Outbreak Control Plan. During the later stages of the apprenticeship there will also be the possibility of working across other parts of Public Health.

Educated to A level, BTEC or having equivalent experience in Public Health the apprentices will be required to undertake an integrated degree in Public Health. At least 20% off-the-job training is a core principle that underpins an apprenticeship. The apprentices will be employed by and have a direct line manager within the Covid response service in Public Health and will also receive support from an external training provider who will deliver the apprenticeship qualification.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual who is passionate about making a positive difference to the Health and Wellbeing of the people of Nottinghamshire. You will join an aspiring and innovative team which makes positive impacts on the outcomes of people's health and wellbeing.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic person who is wanting to expand their skills and knowledge and develop their career in the Public Health field. Good communication and interpersonal skills are all essential for this fast-moving position, as well as the ability to analyse issues and problems and work towards solutions to specific tight deadlines.

This post is also available as a secondment opportunity to existing NCC employees, who will require approval from their line manager prior to applying. The authority is working towards hybrid working arrangements.

Nottinghamshire County Council has a NHS Pension Direction Order in place, which means that we are able to provide ongoing access to the NHS Pension Scheme (NHSPS) where we recruit eligible new joiners to public health roles who are already in the NHSPS.

For an informal discussion about these posts, please contact Cath Pritchard, Consultant in Public Health, Catherine.pritchard@nottscc.gov.uk

The closing date for applications is 28 July 2021
