THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 2 YEARS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE .

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within Llandudno Community Hospital, as a Band 2 Apprentice Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner. This post is ideal for a school or college leaver who is interested in a career in occupational therapy and within the local health board.

This post is 30 hours per week, 2 years fixed term. You will be working towards an apprenticeship framework, which includes Level 3 Diploma in Occupational Therapy Support. The salary is based on Annexe 21(see attached within the additional documents) and is calculated on a percentage of the band 2 pay, taking into account learning on the job.

You will be working alongside Occupational Therapists as part of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate safe and timely hospital discharges. The focus of this role is to support the rehabilitation and recovery of people presenting with a wide range of health conditions, which have had an impact on the person's activities of daily living. It will involve working on busy community wards and occasionally visits in patients own homes.

You will be completing personal care practice; mobility and transfer practice; and demonstrating and fitting assistive equipment. The post holder must be able to communicate effectively on the phone as well as in person. There will also be various administration tasks involved on a day-to-day basis. Computer proficiency is needed as documentation is electronic and equipment is ordering is via an electronic system.

This successful applicant will be an integral part the Occupational Therapy team and have an essential role in supporting the delivery of the Occupational Therapy service.

Following your apprenticeship there will be opportunities to apply for Bank Band 3 positons within the Occupational Therapy service and permanent Band 3 posts as they arise.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post.
