North Middlesex University Hospital is one of London's busiest acute hospitals, serving more than 350,000 people living in Enfield and Haringey and the surrounding areas, including Barnet and Waltham Forest.

We are an integrated provider with a full range of adult, elderly and children's services across medical and surgical disciplines including community 0-19 yr old services in Enfield. Our specialist services include stroke, HIV/AIDS, cardiology, haematology, diabetes, fertility and orthopaedics. Our sickle cell and thalassaemia department is nationally recognised as a leading centre for these diseases. Every day, on average, we see 500 patients in A&E; 15 babies are born in our maternity unit; about 450 inpatients are cared for on our wards; about 50 patients have major or minor surgery in one of our 10 operating theatres; and about 800 people attend our outpatients clinics.

At North Middlesex University Hospital, you'll find a team that truly believes in living our values in everything we do. We are caring, we are fair and we are open.

North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is a medium sized District General Hospital based in Edmonton in Enfield, North London. We serve a diverse multicultural population largely from the London boroughs of Enfield and Haringey. Many of our patients live in wards that are within the 5% most deprived in the UK and a large proportion of our patients were born abroad. This makes it both a fascinating and a challenging hospital to work in.

Over the last decade we have rebuilt almost all of the hospital and now have facilities that we are proud to work in. We employ over 3,500 staff, more than half of whom live locally. We encourage apprenticeships from the local community and work closely with our local Health Watch.

We are primarily an emergency led hospital with more than 90% of our bed days being used for patients admitted via our emergency and ambulatory units. As well as offering everything you would expect from a major acute hospital. We also offer various services in the community including health visiting, school nursing, mass vaccination and a community in patient ward at Canterbury.

The Clinical Site Matron is a senior clinical role charged with the operational responsibility and accountability for patient pathways that support a corporate patient view across the Trust. This will enable and facilitate timely and accurate inpatient flows through their admission, flow through the hospital and timely discharge.

The post-holder will work to consistently uphold the reputation of the organisation in dealing with outside bodies, other professionals and organisations. The Clinical Site Matron's role is instrumental in promoting high standards of clinical care, reducing health inequalities and promoting equality for all; as well as supporting workforce retention and recruitment; staff education and development; compassionate, inclusive leadership and patient safety.

At North Middlesex University Hospital we provide great care to our patients. As colleagues we are enthusiastic about being the local hospital of choice and this rubs off on our patients. However, the way we do things is also important, and by demonstrating the values and behaviours chosen by staff and patients, we can make North Mid an even better place to work and receive care.

Our values are:
  • We are caring
  • We are open and
  • We are open

These values are extremely important to us and we expect everyone who works at the Trust in any capacity to share and uphold these values.
