An exciting opportunity has arisen on our busy general surgical ward specialising in upper GI, colorectal and bariatric surgery. We are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated, dedicated experienced or newly qualified nurses, to join our new team.

Ward 5 is a busy inpatient surgical ward based at The James Cook University Hospital (JCUH) site, we provide care for planned elective and emergency patients.

We take great pride in our staff and we believe that investing in 'You' is key in our ability and capacity to deliver high quality service and patient care. We will support you in developing your surgical knowledge and skills through our team of supportive staff and formal education programme. You will work alongside Doctors, Specialist Nurses Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacists and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Experience is not essential; as training will be provided, however applicants must be committed to delivering high quality patient care.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated people with effective communication skills.

A position with this directorate offers many opportunities for individuals to develop their clinical skills and on-going professional development is encouraged and supported.

Leadership and Improvement Training

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. This programme aims to:
  • Explore leadership within the NHS
  • Promote Trust Values and Behaviours
  • Develop your Leadership effectiveness and skills
  • Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
