An excellent opportunity for a permanent post as a Healthcare Science Practitioner has arisen in our Radioisotope Physics team. We support radioisotope services in nuclear medicine & PET/CT, oncology, nuclear cardiology and laboratories. The postholder will be part of a team that supports a wide range of equipment including two PET/CT systems, two SPECT/CT systems, three further SPECT gamma cameras, and a full range of equipment supporting these services. As well as a wide range of diagnostic tests we support a broad range of routine and advanced radionuclide therapies in dedicated unsealed source treatment suites. In addition, the section is involved in the provision of radiation protection support to all Trust departments using radioisotopes, as well as supporting a large number of clinical trials.
For appointment at Band 5 candidates will have a degree in Physical Sciences or in a subject with a significant Physics component and have completed or are currently undertaking the PTP programme in Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Physics or have equivalent knowledge/experience. Experience of working with radioisotopes in Physics or Clinical Nuclear Medicine is highly desirable.
We are an Accredited Training Centre for the IPEM Clinical Technologist Training Scheme to enable candidates with less experience to achieve registration with the Register of Clinical Technologists.
We also support applications from candidates without a relevant degree who wish to apply for the Healthcare Science Degree Apprenticeship Programme. They will be appointed at a lower band initially while supported through the BSc Honours degree and apprenticeship.
