Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance to Chartered/Graduate Surveyors with the day to day activities on projects
  • Assist in a variety of surveys and inspections
  • Assist in the preparationand production of site meeting minutes, specifications for works, tender and contract documents
  • Assist Chartered Surveyors/Graduates in their role when acting as Employer's Agent and Contract Administrator
  • Assist with site activities; prepare progress reports on time, quality and cost of projects
  • Provide any other necessary assistance to enable the successful completion of the team's instructions
  • Drive towards their qualification through developing their profile and skillset at work
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and keep up to date with academic assignments and learning activities

Desired qualifications

  • A-Level BBB or;
  • BTEC National Diploma DDM or;
  • Access to HE qualifications with 24 Distinctions 21 Merits or;
  • Access to HE qualifications with 24 Distinctions 21 Merits or;
  • Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 128 UCAS points

In addition, applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Math's and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).

Advanced entry

For those holding a Level 4 qualification with specific grades may be possible to enter onto Level 5 of the course and 'top up' your existing qualification to a full degree:
  • BTEC HNC/HND in a Building Surveying/Building related subject
  • Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Building Surveying/Building related subject
  • Construction Surveying Technician Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship or;
  • Cognate Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment


Future prospects

The goal of the apprentice is to become a Chartered Surveyor. The title Chartered Surveyor is a protected status for those that have undergone the rigorous training to be accepted by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

A Chartered Surveyor is a renowned industry professional bearing the letters MRICS after their name, bound by Global Professional and Ethical standards, dictating a duty to and with integrity and provide a high standard of service for their clients.

Things to consider

We are based in Woolwich, London SE18; you will be located so you can readily access our office. There will be regular visits to sites so flexibility to working hours could be required. You need to be dedicated to your studies whilst working at the same time.

Your employment with Martin Arnold is subject to you being enrolled on to an RICS Accredited Degree Course and subsequently completing the Apprenticeship programme successfully in the timescales set.
