Our Organisation

NHS England and NHS Improvement came together on 1 April 2019 as a new single organisation. The NHS Long Term Plan focuses on delivering integrated care to patients at the local level and we can best support the NHS to deliver this as a single integrated organisation.

At the NHS, we are reminded every day of how important life is. As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement whether that's job share, part time or another flexible pattern. In addition, although the role advertised may have an 'home' office base indicated, we remain committed to supporting flexibility around workplace locations. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.

Our new operating model represents a strong shift to regional delivery supported by expert corporate teams. Local health systems are supported by our integrated regional teams who play a major leadership role in the geographies they manage.

We are jointly committed to creating and maintaining a fair and supportive working environment and culture, where contributions are fully recognised and valued by all and staff feel empowered to carry out their duties to the best of their abilities. As employers we are committed to promoting and protecting the physical and mental health and well-being of all our staff. This underpins our values as set out in the NHS Constitution, supports us to be an Employer of Choice and ultimately enables our employees to support the effective care of our patients.

Background

The South West Regional Operation Centre (ROC) is now being established to manage the expected support required to coordinate the delivery of services to our patients and to support local healthcare professionals and Systems in delivering required services, during what may be a challenging period. The ROC will be responsible for communicating Vaccination, CoVid-19 and Winter.requirements to Providers, Commissioners and other organizations that support healthcare delivery in the SW Region; assuring local preparations; responding to operational enquiries for Vaccination, CoVid-19 and Winter; coordinating the operational response within the SW Region and meeting national reporting requirements for Vaccination, CoVid-19 and Winter.

Location

While the primary location for the South West ROC is in SW House, Taunton, following a period of induction, the successful candidate will generally work remotely, using MS Teams, following current NHS workforce guidance.

When the ROC is able to return to an office base environment, the successful candidate's location may include SW House, Jenner House, Chippenham or Peninsula House in Saltash.

Additional Role Specific Duties

As thePerformance Operations Manager within the ROC, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting local organisations across the Region to maintain a high level of preparedness and delivery for Vaccination and CoVid-19 and Winter. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the smooth management and delivery of the Performance Team operational activity, including:
  • Provide effective and flexible management of daily operations and incidents arising to support the delivery of ROC objectives.
  • Ensure the welfare of staff groups through daily check in support meetings (team huddles)
  • the effective and co-ordinated flow of information in and out of the Performance Team.
  • Provide effective and timely briefings to appropriate staff groups, ensuring key information and updates are cascaded as required.
  • Support the Performance Shift Leader in ensuring that the Performance Team is appropriately resourced across all roles, flagging additional resource requirements should demand require it.
  • Support and undertake activities/tasks as required by the Performance Shift Leader as required.

The weekend working requirements will be undertaken on a rota basis, unless volunteers are found to regularly work at the weekend. Additionally, there may be a requirement for the successful candidate to provide cross-cover for other members of the ROC, including flexing working hours in line with ROC core operating hours and undertaking other tasks and activities as specified by the ROC Director. Please note that the reason for the fixed term of your contract is due to the uncertain nature and temporary requirement of a covid/vaccine service.
