The Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust is urgently recruiting for a Band 7 Mental Health Practitioner to support the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service based at the Common Point of Entry Hub at The Old Forge.

Locations covered: The Old Forge, Wokingham

Length of placement: 3 - 6 months, subject to review

Band 7 Rate:
  • Day Rate - £23.90 per hour
  • Night/Sat Rate - £30.73 per hour
  • Sun/Bank Holiday Rate - £37.55 per hour

The responsibilities of the post-holder are:
  • To work effectively individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • To develop and maintain specialist knowledge of child protection issues and the Mental Health Act, as they would relate to young people referred to this service
  • To have knowledge of the capacity act and Gillick Competency principles in relation to consent
  • To be responsible for the care of assigned patients and to manage, direct and evaluate their care in an effective manner
  • To be able to communicate effectively with other professionals about issues relating to patients' care.
  • To communicate complex information to young people and families
  • To escalate as required, reporting any incidents/accidents and ensuring they are recorded using the appropriate method

In order to apply for a post you must:
  • Be registered with a recognised approved body
  • Have a Masters level qualification or equivalent experience and training, ie Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC); Occupational Therapy degree level qualification and registered with HPCP; qualified Psychotherapist registered with professional body i.e. ACP approved Child Psychotherapist; Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those who trained before 1996) as accredited by the BPS; relevant post graduate qualification
  • Additional post-qualification training equivalent to a minimum of 50 hours supervision within a specific modality directly related to clinical practice including case presentations, group supervision, attendance of teaching programmes, courses etc
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team and in a high-pressure environment
  • Possess the ability and skills to act as an advocate for a service, to engage and foster good professional relationships with all health professionals in promoting the good integration of this service with the wider health care system
  • Be able to evidence continuing professional development and a desire to undertake further training
