Band 5 Occupational Therapist in Acute Medicine Friarage Hospital

22.5 hours permanent contract

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Band 5 Occupational Therapist on a permanent basis. The post offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in the well-established ward based medical team within the Friarage Hospital Northallerton. This post offers experience in the assessment and treatment of patients with a wide range of conditions to enable safe and timely discharge from hospital.

This post provides an excellent opportunity for someone to develop their skills, or who is already experienced. The role brings a number of exciting factors together, including excellent MDT working across all health and social care services coupled with a beautiful location. The team is friendly and welcoming and warmly supports colleagues.

To be successful in this role you will require sound core skills to support the delivery of therapy services within the acute setting.

You will be a qualified and HPC registered Occupational Therapist with knowledge of local Health and Social Care environments. Excellent communication skills, organisational skills, enthusiasm, commitment and ability to work with a wide range of agencies are vital in this post. You will also have the ability to problem solve and be able to respond flexibly to the changing needs of the service.

You will need to be able to work on your own and as part of a team and be involved with service users with a range of multiple medical, social and emotional problems. The role will primarily be ward based but will involve visiting service users in their own homes and therefore driving and having access to a car is an essential part of this job.

Continuing professional development is actively encouraged and regular support and supervision will be provided by a Therapist. Participation in service developments and clinical governance is also expected, for which there is good support throughout the integrated Therapy service to help you develop.

Leadership and Improvement Training
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. This programme aims to:
• Explore leadership within the NHS
• Promote Trust Values and Behaviours
• Develop your Leadership effectiveness and skills
• Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
