What will the apprentice be doing?
To work as part of the staff team providing practical/emotional support, advice, information to young people between 16-18 yrs old who are eligible for leaving care provision with transition toward independence. To provide staff cover on an extended day basis and at weekends and bank holidays as required. To provide sleep-in cover for young people who access the service. To provide outreach support services to young people within their community
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The qualification is a 'Children & Young People Practitioner' and is designed for workers within children and young people's services. This qualification is delivered in the workplace and is the equivalent of a Level 4 QCF. Average completion timescale is 17 - 20 months
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
many support staff move on to social work or youth work

Things to consider
Knowledge and awareness of discrimination and disadvantage experienced by vulnerable young people and the ability to implement , anti-discriminatory practice and work within adherence to all Confidentiality policies and procedures. The ability to undertake relevant training as appropriate.
