About the apprenticeship

Duties

To support the design, development and delivery of timely, accurate and actionable
strategic and operational business intelligence that supports continuous performance
improvement across all services and to seek innovations to develop business
understanding and insight.
To support business intelligence systems that improve access and availability of business
information and data. Use research, IT and business reengineering skills (including
software engineering) to design systems to solve complex problems. This will require
handling and manipulating big data sets.
During the apprenticeship you'll develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to
be a successful Data Analyst. You will learn the essential skills needed to manage data,
such as:
 Developing your own effectiveness and professionalism in using managing data;
 Principles of Data Management Infrastructure;
 Data Analysis Tools;
 Data Analysis: Data Science;
 Statistical Analysis of Data Sets;
 Designing and Developing Procedural Computer Programs;
 Principles of Information Governance and Assurance;
 Data Management Infrastructure;
 Advanced Data Representations and Manipulations for IT;
 Designing and Developing Event-Driven Computer Programs;
 Designing and Developing Object- Oriented Computer Programs.

Skills

 Skills in using IT systems for utilising
data, data analysis and process reengineering.
 Awareness of data storage and data
management techniques.
 Data manipulation skills with ability to
interpret, consolidate, and present
trends and significance.
 High skill levels in using, and excellent
knowledge of, presentation tools, in
particular MS PowerPoint or MS Sway or
equivalent.
 Business Analysis skills, for example the
ability to carry out process mapping and
creation of business cases.
 Analytical and problem-solving skills.
 Highly proficient written, verbal and
presentation skills, including good
negotiating skills.
 Ability to effectively prioritise and
execute tasks in a high-pressure
environment, being able to meet
challenging timescales.
 High levels of IT literacy for example
using Microsoft Office, MS Power BI, MS
Sway.
 Ability to interpret complex data and
producing reports.
 Excellent time management, planning,
organisational, training and ICT skills.
 Ability to work on own initiative and as
part of a team.
 The ability to work from video screens
on a routine basis.

Qualifications

 A minimum of 3 A-levels in fields such as
statistics, mathematics, sciences and/or
IT.
 Commitment to undertaking any
relevant training.
 Welsh Language Level 1.
