We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated therapist with a special interest in stroke and rehab care to work in the purpose built health facility at Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda Hospital as a Band 6 Stroke Specialist SLT. You will take clinical responsibility for day to day communication and dysphagia management of patients recovering at the rehabilitation unit. You will also offer some outpatient and domiciliary support to the general adult population locally in Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT). You will be well supported by the wider stroke team based at Prince Charles Hospital (PCH), Merthyr and the Princess of Wales Hospital (POWH), Bridgend.

The vision for this post is to offer annual rotation opportunities, i.e. initially refining your stroke rehabilitation and community skills at YCR; to hone and refine your acute stroke and videofluoroscopy skills at PCH, and potentially thirdly to further develop your acute stroke, general medical and critical care specialist training at PCH. The feasibility of this rotation is open to negotiation at interview.

At YCR, you will be blessed with Band 4 technician support to ensure the continuous provision of rehabilitation for D4. You will also have therapy nurse provision who are trained to continue therapy programs out of standard working hours. You will be expected to clinically supervise the training of these and oversee therapy programs.

Within the University Health Board (UHB) we have good access to video fluoroscopy and plans to grow and develop our FEES service.
