We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby. We provide a range inpatient and community services to 2m people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire. We also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England.

We deliver our services by working in partnership with eight local authorities and clinical commissioning groups, a wide range of voluntary organisations, as well as service users, their carers and the public. The services are spread over a wide geographical area of around 3,600 square miles, which includes coastal, rural and industrial areas.

We are a multi-award winning trust and are included within the Health Service Journal's Best 100 Places to Work. The trust take a positive and proactive approach to support staff in their personal development and has embedded the Talent Management approach within the Trust, with the vision of helping people to be as good as they can be, helping TEWV to do things better.

We are looking to invite qualified mental health nurses into our team on Roseberry Ward in Lanchester Road Hospital, Durham. We have recognised in our Durham & Darlington services over the past 12-18 months that our patients needs have changed in light of the ongoing pandemic and demands, and we are in a position to reflect this in our staffing numbers to continue to provide excellent care. We take pride in our older persons services in Durham and Darlington and feel the patient experience on our wards is exceptional. We deliver our assessment and care in a welcoming and homely environment, and work with a team of dynamic and passionate nursing staff who continue to be proud to be part of our service.

We are an acute assessment ward for older people aged 65 years and older who are experiencing functional mental illness, many of which are supported home on their discharge from the ward. The MDT team consists of medical staff, psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language services, dietetics and physical health care, due to this we are able to offer a comprehensive assessment of each patient and their individual needs. Daily MDT report outs and discussions aid the holistic approach to our care on Roseberry and contribute to the effective treatment and management of each patient, whilst considering discharge planning throughout their in-patient journey.

Although these jobs are permanent, we would offer these as a secondment opportunity for staff from other services to experience MHSOP, making a decision at the end of a 6 month period as to whether our services are as you may have expected.
