Position: Ward Manager (37.5 Hours per week)

Location: The Friary Hospital, Richmond; Victoria Ward

The Friary Hospital is an 18-bedded community hospital comprising of one ward (Victoria Ward), specialising in rehabilitation but also provides care for palliative patients and patients with a range of non-acute illnesses. The ward is GP led, working closely with the nursing and therapy team gaining further support from Community Matrons and with a strong focus on multi-disciplinary team working. .

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated senior nurse who can lead and motivate a team effectively. You will be a team player and have excellent communication and organisational skills together with a wealth of clinical experience. You will have a positive can do attitude, always striving for the best for your patients and team.

You will have the ability to engage clinically with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and will have in-depth proven clinical knowledge to support the nursing team to work within this framework. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to sensitively manage change.

The post holder will be expected to have 24 hour responsibility for the ward, to provide professional clinical leadership, advice and guidance for the team. You will need to have effective problem solving skills and be able to enhance patient pathways with innovation/ improvements based on current research/ guidance and service need

The ward is working towards a new innovative nurse prescribing model to help support the smooth and efficient flow of patients through the ward and back to their own home environment therefore we are looking for someone who has either completed their Non-Medical Nurse Prescribing Qualification or can commence this as soon as practicably possible.

Leadership and Improvement Training

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. This programme aims to:
  • Explore leadership within the NHS
  • Promote Trust Values and Behaviours
  • Develop your Leadership effectiveness and skills
  • Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
