Our Estate Maintenance Department are looking to recruit an Estate Officer to contribute tomanaging and delivering the Maintenance Service of a portfolio of buildings across the Solent NHS estate with particular focus on the mechanical installations. This is a full time position based at Westwood Bungalow in Southampton. You will be required to travel between sites and will therefore need a full UK Driving Licence and access to the use of a car.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of both maintaining and managing a diverse healthcare estate with supporting qualifications. They should be formally trained in an electrical maintenance discipline but with the capability, competence and enthusiasm to manage a multi-disciplinary workforce.

The Estate Maintenance Department provides a comprehensive range of diverse and complex services across more than 20 healthcare sites supporting some 5000 staff. The department is responsible for day-to-day planned and reactive maintenance, long-term maintenance strategies and capital funding forecasting, critical infrastructure management and the drive towards energy reduction and decarbonisation. New technology and innovation is at the forefront of our service thinking as we optimise our estate performance and services 'up-time'.

The Estate Maintenance Department is expanding as a result of a recent in-sourcing exercise and we are seeking individuals with a passion to excel, be the best at what they do and support the department and wider Estates Team achieve their future aspirations whilst achieveing a safe and compliant healthcare estate today. The individual will have an opportunity to influence and input to future service development.

The Estate Maintenance Department has been positively recognised as a success story following it's transition to a self-delivered model.

Job Responsibilities
  • The role will be responsible for the day-to-day co-management of a team of multi-disciplinedoperatives and network of specialistsub-contractors alongside the Business Support Team.
  • The role will be responsible for the delivery of operational planned and reactive maintenance programmes to ensure statutory compliance and attainment of agreed SLA's.
  • Delegated management of specialist maintenance contracts.
  • To act as HTM Authorised Person within discipline specific areas.
  • To support and enhance the training and development of other team members including apprentices.
  • Delegated responsibility for an operational maintenance budget.
  • To support continuous improvement of the Estate Maintenance Department.
  • To support and deliver initiatives that accord with energy reduction and decarbonisation agendas.
  • To gather and provide information for the long-term and life cycle maintenance programme operated by the department.
  • To identify, escalate and manage risks via the departmental risk register.
