Post: Band 6 (equivalent) Occupational Therapist

Base: West Hampton Ward (Low Secure Male - Mixed Hearing and Deaf)

Responsible for: Day to day running of the OT service on West Hampton Ward, and supervision of 2 Activity Co-Ordinators.

Responsible to: Senior OT (Band 7 equivalent) at Bury

Hours: 40 hours per week

Overview of site/Ward: West Hampton is a low secure service for males; both hearing and deaf. The patients can present with a range of complex care needs including personality disorder and mental illness. You do not need experience in deaf services; however must display a willingness to learn new skills and also have effective communication skills.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of patients within the service.

In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to service user's diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly.

  • The Successful Candidate should be/have:
    • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
    • Experienced in the field of adult mental health
    • Working as a Band 5 or 6 OT currently
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a "hands on" approach
    • Excellent communication and time management skills
    • The desire to complete level 1 British sign language (Some of our service users are deaf)
    • Passionate about student education

    The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
