Occupational Therapist Band 6: Out-patient Service (Hand Therapy/ Upper Limb Injuries)
Leicester Royal Infirmary
Permanent position 37.5 hours

We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our established team of therapists at Leicester Royal Infirmary. The out-patient OT service is a dynamic and forward thinking team providing a service to a wide range of patients on all 3 UHL sites.

You will be:-
  • Treating patients with hand or upper limb injury, including trauma and elective orthopaedics, burns and plastics, rheumatology and paediatrics.
  • Using a variety of treatment techniques - e.g. splinting, pressure garments, various rehabilitation equipment.
  • Part of a close MDT, working with OT and Physio colleagues and medical/surgical teams including input to an MDT clinic.
  • Providing a splinting service to In-patients - to facilitate discharge or as support to the in-pt OT team.

Experience in this this clinical area is advantageous but not essential. Not only will you develop expertise in the clinical area, you will also develop your supervisory and management skills. Working alongside highly experienced team members you will have opportunities to develop the service and be actively involved in the clinical governance agenda including research and audit.

You will receive regular supervision and appraisal and there will be the opportunity to support and supervise other staff as well as provide practice placements for Occupational Therapy students.

You will be expected to participate in a roster system to cover our Weekend and Bank Holiday Service.
