Reporting to the Head of Canapes, you will use your creativity, skill and eye for detail to prepare and finish canapes for high profile events.

The role is based in one of the most creative and precise sections of the kitchen, preparing canapes for a range of evens from receptions and dinners to weddings and celebrations.

The job involves preparing ingredients for mise en place, building canapes ahead of the events and attending events alongside other members of the Brigade to finish and plate the canapes to perfection ready to serve to the guests.

The kitchen brigade at By Word of Mouth is an ambitious, friendly and collaborative team that works hard and maintains the highest standards. The role of the apprentice is in the Canape Section is a supportive but very important role on a busy section.

Essential to the role is exceptional basic chef skills, along with an eye for detail, a sense of creativity and a passion for producing exceptional flavours.

Desired Qualifications:

2 years catering college minimum

Food Safety Level 2

Training to be Provided:

Level 2 Production Chef

Maths and English Functional Skills

Things to consider:

This is a role that will, on occasion, require you to work at anti-social times of the day/week (e.g. evenings and weekends).

Whilst the role is mainly based in Wandsworth SW18, there will be times when you are required to travel to events throughout London and the wider UK. This is an essential part of the job and requires flexibility.

08:30 - 16:30 Monday - Friday with 30 minutes for lunch. Overtime will be paid for any extra hours worked.

Future prospects:

The right person will have the opportunity to carve out a niche for themselves in our kitchens and to develop as a canape chef to the point where they are leading on events and taking on sole responsibility.
