You will provide guidance, support and encouragement to vulnerable children and young adults in a variety of settings including domestic and taking them to complete off-site activities.

Ultimately, this role is about caring and enabling vulnerable children and young adults to develop by providing physical and emotional support. The role is about working as part of a team to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of the vulnerable children and young adults in Cambian's care first. This may also include personal care and the administration of medication following suitable training.

You will be working within an SEN environment, supporting a range of vulnerable children and young adults with varying additional needs.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Building professional relationships with vulnerable children and young adults (dependant on your placement), as well as other staff at your establishment and throughout Cambian and disengage from these appropriately
  • Doing everything possible to maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment to live and work in, this will involve domestic duties
  • Assisting vulnerable children and young adults (dependant on your placement) with their personal development, giving them the guidance they need to boost their independence skills and meeting their medical and welfare needs, reporting as required. This may include the administration of emergency 'when required' medication
  • Keeping up to date with all communication and information systems
  • Promoting equality, acknowledging individual differences and upholding the rights and responsibilities of vulnerable children, vulnerable young people and staff. This also involves providing emotional support, being a positive role model and creating a safe, happy environment
  • Doing everything possible to safeguard vulnerable children and young adults from any form of abuse from staff, visitors and each other
  • Accurately report and keep written record for monitoring purposes as required
  • Attending meetings and all training as required and being prepared to achieve qualifications appropriate to the role at any particular time as specified by Cambian
  • Actively promote learning during all programs and activities during residential, leisure and classroom situations

About you

You will:
  • Need to be aged 21 or older due to the challenging nature of therole
  • Hold a full UK driving license (preferred but not essential, transport support for non-drivers and non car-owners is available)
  • Need to complete a full DBS check
  • Keep up to date with health and safety legislations and be prepared to apply them within the role
  • Have awareness of what equal opportunities are and how discrimination can be prevented
  • Go wherever Cambian's vulnerable children and young people do, and participate and lead indoor and outdoor activities
  • Communicate clearly and easily with vulnerable children, vulnerable young adults and others in a variety of ways
  • Be able to form appropriate professional relationships with vulnerable children, vulnerable young adults and others involved in their care
  • Have the ability to plan, organise and evaluate activities appropriate to vulnerable children and vulnerable young adult's needs and skills
  • Be flexible in your working shift patterns, adapting to changes and increases in work attendance as required by Cambian
