Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £25,676 to £27,941 per annum (inc Outer London High Cost Area Supplement) + £3,277 (RRP)

Location: Whipps Cross Hospital

Two permanent vacancies have arisen within the Estates & Facilities Directorate for an experienced Electrical Craft Person to join the Barts Heath Trust. The job is based at Whipps Cross Hospital but the role may require working at other sites within the Barts Health Trust.

Duties cover a range of building electrical work including planned and breakdown maintenance, servicing, specialist testing, fault finding and repair of equipment and installation work.

Key Responsibilities of the post will include undertaking a range of repairs and core craft electrical and general engineering duties and associated works for the Trust. To maintain engineering services and equipment at the hospital whilst at all times observing all relevant Health and Safety guidelines and Regulations.

The basic working week is 37.5 hours, Monday-Friday 08:30 to 16:30. You must however, have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours including overtime and call outs as workload demands, for which additional payment is made. The position is also eligible for the NHS pension scheme along with access to a wide range of staff benefits, and in addition to public bank holidays annual leave of 27 days on appointment rising to 29 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years.

You must possess a relevant formal electrical qualification and be conversant with electrical regulations. Attention to detail is a must, so we are looking for someone who will take pride in the highest standards of work. You must possess good literacy skills and the ability to work on your own and work as part of the maintenance team to achieve shared goals. Applicants must have served an Engineering apprenticeship (Electrical, Building Services etc.) and achieved a minimum of NVQ Level 3.

Previous experience in Electrical Installation / maintenance / engineering is essential, preferably in a Healthcare / Hospital maintenance environment. Please refer to the Job Description & Person Specification for details.

Candidate will have good communication skills to work with various levels of staff across the Trust and be expected to carry out all duties in a safe, efficient and effective manner.

Whipps Cross Hospital is undergoing a comprehensive site redevelopment strategy which is planned to be delivered that will transform the hospital over the next 5-8 years. The proposed new hospital is to be "Net Zero" Carbon and hence Electrical skills will be greatly required to the maintenance team.
