Band 7 Trauma and Orthopaedic Team Lead Occupational Therapist working at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford and Queen Marys Hospital, Sidcup

37.5hrs/week - part time considered

We have a great opportunity for an Inpatient Trauma and Elective Orthopaedic Team Lead Occupational Therapist to manage the Trauma and Orthopaedic service at Darent Valley Hospital and the Elective Orthopaedic and Surgical service at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup.

The post requires you to have good communication skills, a professional attitude and experience at Band 6/7 level as essential, along with the enthusiasm to work in a busy acute setting alongside other members of the MDT.

Darent Valley Hospital has a trauma ward and an elective orthopaedic ward, while Queen Mary's Hospital has an Enhanced Care Unit and ward for elective orthopaedic and surgical cases. You will have a Team of 2 band 6 OTs, one static in this service and one rotational, a Band 5 OT for the Darent Valley elective cases, as well as the support of an OT Apprentice.

Your base will be Darent Valley Hospital where we are able to offer the following:

The Department
  • We offer a friendly and supportive working environment, with peer support, clinical supervision and regular in-service training
  • There is access to informal and formal training and CPD opportunities, where learning and sharing is strongly encouraged.
  • We have a band 7 Practice Development OT post dedicated to supporting staff, students and apprentices in their clinical development.
  • We actively participate in ongoing service development, and participation in Trust-wide projects and audits, and cross-discipline working is highly valued.
  • Our trust-wide staff survey demonstrated higher than national average scores with excellent staff engagement across the Therapies directorate
  • We offer practice placements for pre- reg OT students from Canterbury Christchurch University and Brighton University, and are have 3 staff on the OT apprentice 4 year degree course
  • Leadership is provided by the Professional Lead Occupational Therapist and Band 7 Team Lead OTs.


Essential experience required:
  • Post-graduate clinical experience working as a Band 6/7 Occupational Therapist
  • Post graduate experience of In Patient Orthopaedics an advantage.
  • Evidence of participation in In-service training and Personal CPD
  • HCPC registration and RCOT/BAOT membership
