The role of the Apprentice Development Technician is to support the team in development and evaluation work on specially selected projects as agreed by the Business unit.

Key Activities:
- To comply with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies and other such regulations as set down
- Maintaining material safety data sheets (MSDS) of raw materials, as well as undertaking control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) and risk assessments in conjunction with the development team as required
- Preparing samples of new and existing products in the laboratory using designated laboratory mixing equipment
- Testing and evaluation of construction and DIY consumer products using a mixture of internal and external standard test methods
- Helping to improve our existing test methods and develop new test methods. Maintain comprehensive records of all projects work as well as relevant technical information
- To provide clear reports, both oral and written, in support of the project workContribute to a clean and organised laboratory working environment
- Helping to maintain stocks of laboratory consumables as required
- Effective communication with colleagues in other departments within the Bostik organisation as directed
Context and Environment:
- Safety is the company's number one priority. All employees are expected to follow the company's Health, Safety and Environmental policy
- The role is laboratory based, and good laboratory practice (GLP) and COSHH are an intrinsic part of the position
- Work involves regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- The job holder will be required to interact with colleagues, as well as external parties, and represent the company in a professional capacity at all times
- The role requires the timely communication of results to internal and external customers in technical, manufacturing and commercial sectors; the provision of such data and reports is required to be tailored appropriately to maximise effectiveness.
- Day to day work will be on-site in the laboratory, but opportunities may arise for occasional business travel within the UK

Desired qualifications
- Applicants must have achieved at least two subjects at A-level (or equivelent), including Chemistry. Alternatively, applicants must have completed a Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship in a relevant discipline
Future prospects
- Potential to extend contract after 3 years and 3 months if there is adequate justification for the role
