Working as part of the Bid Team the apprentice will learn to undertake surveying, analysis of tender documents, contract reviews, preparation of tender responses, business development.

As this is an apprenticeship previous experience is not essential and the candidate is not expected to have an understanding of our industry. What will count is a Can-Do attitude, the ability to learn and put in practice quickly what has been learnt.

Your key responsibilities, once trained, will include:
  • Preparation of quotations and tender responses, solo and as part of the wider team
  • Visiting sites to undertake surveying and measurement duties
  • Using business software to produce reports, tender documents and work cost reports for the operations teams
  • Review contract documents and work up a scope based on the information contained within
  • Work with the client to help produce their own schedule of requirements
  • Use company database to record, review and chase tenders
  • Use estimating software as befits the role
  • Travel around to various sites as required to help Business Units win work and service the needs of our clients

Desired skills

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong IT skills would be an advantage
  • Good numerical skills

  • Work under pressure and to deadlines


Desired qualifications

GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) in maths and English plus other GCSE's or a BTEC/L3 in a related subject.

Once you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, should you gain employment you can expect:

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
