Duties to include:
  • Apply basic coding languages to various applications (Java, C#, PHP, SQL)
  • Basic web dev understanding
  • Understanding of engineering software (Etabs, Strand, Safe)
  • Understanding of production software (Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Rhino)
  • To have a basic understanding of Building Information Modelling (BIM)
  • Report to Digital Engineering Technologists for coding language queries
  • Contribute to team meetings
  • Contribute to 'helpdesk' support for scripting/coding or software.
  • Implement Health and Safety policies and procedures on projects
  • Participate in Workplace Health and Safety committee if, and when, required
  • To have an understanding of digital tools (Dynamo/Grasshopper)
  • Learn and provide input into RBG digital workflows
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of any potentially relevant emerging technologies
  • New/Future disruptive technologies
  • Graphical/Visual technologies (i.e. XR, Gaming Engines etc)
  • Data management and analytics (AI/ML)
  • Parametric geometry (Generative Design)
  • Building Information Modelling
  • Workflows and data interoperability

Desired skills

  • Execution of all duties to an acceptable/high standard
  • Be open in relaying your thoughts and concerns on company production and personal matters which effect execution of your duties in your performance/progress review

Personal qualities

  • Creation and maintenance of 'team' environment in the London office in conjunction with Company principals

Desired qualifications

  • Five GCSE grades C - A* (4-9) or equivalent, including English and maths
  • Three months' prior coding experience

Future prospects

After your Software Engineering apprenticeship, you can progress into a junior developer role (this includes web and app development). You'll have the skills to continue growing within a tech team, and have enough knowledge/experience to pick up new languages with ease. Software Engineering Level 4 will also provide a good foundation for transitioning into data science.
