We currently have some exciting vacancies within the Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust which will allow the successful candidates to gain regular shifts and valuable experience within a unique environment. The Trust is recruiting for two Health Visitors to provide support to the community nursing team for an expected 6 month placement.

Locations covered: Reading, but you may be required to work at or from any additional location as may be determined by the Trust from time to time.

Shifts/Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00

Length of Placement:Starting ASAP on an ongoing basis

Band 6 - Example Rate
  • Day Rate - £19.38 per hour
  • Night/Sat Rate - £25.19 per hour
  • Sun/Bank Holiday Rate - £31.00 per hour

You will have the responsibility to manage and deliver care for families, children and communities working in partnership with team members and service users. The teams are based mainly within Children's Centres across the local area.

You will be working as part of a close and supportive team providing a proactive, responsive service based on identified health needs. You will be responsible for leading the delivery of the universal Healthy Child Programme and ensuring effective delegation, workload management and monitoring of care standards. You will be working in an environment where staff are committed to creating a culture where everyone has a voice and where service users and staff collaborate to have a direct impact on the things that matter most.

Responsibilities of the post-holder:
  • Assess child and family needs, using the appropriate assessment and risk assessment tools
  • Ensure that at each contact with a child an assessment of the health and developmental need is conducted
  • Utilise full knowledge and understanding of the Local Safeguarding Board Procedures together with Trust guidelines
  • Exercise vigilance regarding vulnerable families and to respond as necessary
  • Work closely with local authority colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with other health care professionals and agencies ensuring a seamless delivery of services for children and families within the community

In order to apply for the post you must:
  • Be a specialist community public health nurse (health visiting)
  • Have obtained Safeguarding level 3 qualification
  • Be a car driver with a valid licence and have access to a vehicle
  • Be able to evidence continuing professional development and a desire to undertake further training
