CARDIOLOGY SERVICE

APPRENTICE CARDIOGRAPHER/ HEALTHCARE SCIENCE ASSISTANT

Fixed term contract 14months

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small & friendly team at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills to work as an Apprentice Clinical/ Healthcare Science Assistant for the Cardiology Service. This is a busy service providing specialist assessment and support for people with known or suspected heart conditions.

Working in collaboration with an education provider, this apprentice post offers structured, work based training and experience to people seeking a career in a Health Care setting. This is an opportunity to gain experience in a clinical environment. The post supports the achievement of relevant knowledge, skills and qualifications which enable access into work.

You will be an integral member of the Cardiology team providing clinical support to the Cardiac Physiologists and training to perform routine tests such as electrocardiograms (ECGs) and Spirometry. The Cardiac Physiology team perform investigations to assess heart conditions and also manage patients with implantable loop recorders, pacemakers and defibrillators.

Candidates should have the desire to work in a healthcare environment, possess a professional attitude and be able to work flexibly in a busy team. Candidates should also display a willingness to undertake Level 2 Healthcare Apprenticeship. Candidates should possess a good standard of GCSE education including English and Maths.

The cost of undertaking a DBS disclosure will be met by the individual. The Trust will meet the initial costs of the disclosure, and you can choose to have this deducted from either your first month's salary or in instalments over your first 3 months' salary. The current price of a standard check is £23 and an enhanced check is £40.

You will be asked for proof of your qualifications at the conditional offer stage of your employment. If you are unable to provide evidence the offer may be withdrawn.

New starters to the NHS will start at the bottom of the advertised salary band.
