Who we are looking to recruit:

We are looking for a new Head of Professional Development and Clinical education to come and join our Department of Professional Healthcare Education. This is an exciting time to join UHP as a large teaching university integrated hospital trust with a varied education and professional development portfolio at a time when the trust is progressing fast with its future hospital plans and digital vision and road map. Our ambition is to develop and empower our workforce to deliver exceptional care, quality, and safety for all patients across acute and community settings in Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.

The successful candidate will be a senior clinical leader with a significant background in the field of clinical education and professional practice and we welcome applicants from nursing, midwifery, AHP and Healthcare Scientists (HCS) backgrounds. You will need to be proactive, work on your own initiative, horizon scan future opportunities and areas for innovation. Our priority areas include widening the access to healthcare careers and development opportunities for our existing work and our local community and we are keen to grow further our clinical apprenticeships and professional leadership development offers. You will have the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively at all levels and in particular with the trusts Organisational, Learning and Development teams, Corporate Lead for Advanced Practice, Education providers and partners. You will have demonstrable experience in design, development and implementation of multi-professional education programmes and projects. With excellent interpersonal, managerial, organisational and influencing skills, you will have the dynamic leadership skills needed to give advice and support both operationally, financially and strategically with all aspects of professional development and clinical education.

The successful candidate will be in a unique position to start at the same time as our recently appointed Corporate Lead for Advanced Practice and our CNIO post that we are recruiting to; to provide clinical leadership to the digital agenda and we would see these posts collectively supporting the advancement of clinical practice and quality of care at UHP and to our local community.
