The type of work we undertake very much depends upon the needs of our clients and we aim to be the best agency to give the most value to a business. This means that our developers need to be keen to learn new skills and think of great business solutions. It is an opportunity for a talented developer to get their voice heard and make their work count.

Your daily responsibilities will include the following:
  • Involvement in early requirements gathering discussions (sometimes with the client and/or internal stakeholders)
  • Occasional online/external client meetings are a possibility
  • Reading specification/scoping documents
  • Discussing with senior developer/BA requirements and plan for development
  • Setting up local development environment linked to GitHub
  • Creating database/code based on specification document using the usual full stack database/website programming techniques/languages
  • SQL server database
  • Working with code such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and C#
  • Unit testing and system testing
  • Publishing to various environments (development, preview, staging & live)
  • Liaisingwith internal stakeholders to facilitate UAT

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • An enthusiasm for programming and a willingness to keep abreast of new developments in technology
  • Flexibility to deal with changing projects and priorities in a short space of time
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A team player who supports all members of the team

Desirable skills:
  • .NET core
  • C#, MVC, Entity framework
  • SQL Server
  • Front end languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Knowledge of code versioning tools such as Git, SVN, Mercurial
  • Responsive design. Sites that work well and look good on all screen sizes

And maybe...
  • Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as Vue, React or Angular (we use Vue)
  • Experience working with graphic designers and converting designs to visual elements
  • Familiarity or experience, with Progressive Web Apps
  • Proficiency/familiarity with API/web service creation using RESTful services
  • Microsoft Azure and other Windows web-hosting platforms

  • Portfolio of work including programming examples
  • Examples of your own hand-crafted HTML pages
  • Commitment to understand accessibility standards, cross-browser issues on both PC and Mac and mobile devices
  • Commitment to understand user interface design

Desired qualifications

  • IT qualification [level 3] with an element of coding or an A level in computing or maths
  • 5 GCSEs including English and maths at grade C/4or equivalent


Future prospects

  • "What's in it for me?" we hear you ask! After the two years, you'll be a BCS certified Level 4 Software Developer! It would be great to have you as part of the team! This 2 year apprenticeship could well lead to a permanent role should you prove your ability to produce good quality work and fit in with the team
