Mental health services
  • We provide a wide range of treatment and support to young people, adults and older people experiencing mental illness both as inpatients and within the community. This includes treatment in secure and specialised settings.

Community health services
  • Our diverse range of community health services provide support and treatment to both adults and children. We deliver this care in community hospitals, health centres, GP surgeries and in people's homes.

Learning disabilities services
  • We provide crisis support and inpatient services and our community learning disability teams work in partnership with local councils to provide assessment and support for adults with learning disabilities.

Social care
  • We provide personalised social care support to people with a range of needs, including people with learning disabilities or mental illness, supporting people to live independently.

CLINICAL/COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGIST

Registered Clinical/Counselling Psychologist: Band 8a Adult Community Psychological (ACP) Services (South West Essex)

1.0 WTE at Band 8a Part time/job share hours also actively welcomed.

Grade/Salary: A4C Band 8a

Location: South West Essex (Basildon, Brentwood and Thurrock)

Hours: 37.5 per week

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our well-established, dynamic and friendly clinical South West Essex team. Our service has secured additional funding which enables us to seek a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who thrives in a welcoming team, values innovation and values advancing high quality and creative service delivery.

Adult Community Psychological Services

Services have undergone influential restructuring processes to enhance the capacity to deliver psychological therapies and to utilise psychological skills within MDTs. The established Clinical Director of Psychological Services works closely with the senior management team to develop and improve delivery of psychological therapies, and to enable psychologists to develop and implement their leadership skills. This provides an environment for psychological therapies staff to develop their skills through high quality supervision and a supported CPD programme, ideal for staff who have an interest in developing specialisms with a focus on career progression, including generous possible training opportunities in EMDR, Schema Therapy, DBT and other modalities that link to service needs and appraisal objectives. Leadership training is also supported, depending on career progression needs, through the Trust's internal programme and the NHS Leadership Academy. The Psychological Services Directorate in EPUT invests in staff, and supporting CPD opportunities leading to accredited status will be invested in, in addition to short workshops.

The Adult Community Psychological Service provides a Tier 2 service to the South Essex locality. There will then be opportunity to work a proportion of these roles remotely. The post holder will be expected to provide specialist psychological input to the identified local community mental health teams comprising the First Response Team (FRT) and Recovery and Wellbeing Team (RWT). The FRT delivers care and interventions to clients newly referred to secondary care mental health services for a period of 6 months. The RWT delivers care plans aligned to recovery focused outcomes to clients with longer term needs. Psychologists provide direct client contact in the form of assessment and treatment (providing both group interventions and individual therapy). As a member of the multidisciplinary team you will also be required to provide highly regarded consultation, supervision and teaching to other professionals. Embedding psychological thinking and formulation across MDT practice is key to psychologists working in teams.

This post will also be involved in supervising Trainee Psychologists as well as Clinical Associate Psychologists (CAPS), which the Psychological Services Directorate has taken an active role in facilitating the recruitment and training of. For those interested in diversifying their job role, there are some exciting opportunities to contribute to clinical training. For suitably qualified candidates there is scope to take up substantive clinical lecturer sessions within our Training & Partnerships Team, contributing to the delivery of clinical training to our CAP apprentices and other pre-qualification students and trainees. There are opportunities to become involved as an associate lecturer, contributing to teaching in your area of interest on a more occasional basis.

EPUT also offers a relocation package of up to £6000 for any postholder relocating to Essex.
