The Role:

Are you passionate about providing patient-centred rehabilitation to patients aged 18 years and over who live in the Coventry area?

The Coventry Community Neuro Rehab Team and Early Supported Discharge Team are well-established interdisciplinary services. These are interdisciplinary services specialising in the treatment and management of patients following discharge from the acute stroke and neuro pathways from University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

We currently have a long-term placement for a Band 8a Neuropsychologist in Community Neurological Rehabilitation Services at Newfield House, Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust. The post holder will be an integral part of a friendly and supportive team working with people in their own homes or out-patient clinics, specifically providing the following:
  • Work as a highly specialist Neuropsychologist within the Community Neuro Rehab Services as a member of an interdisciplinary team, which include Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics, Psychology, Assistant Practitioners and Rehabilitation Technicians
  • Responsible for managing a caseload and working with the integrated team to support the rehabilitation of patients referred into the service
  • Provide evidenced-based psychological assessment and treatment of complex cases, requiring detailed analysis, formulation and interventions to reduce the adverse consequences of neurological illness, cognitive impairment and disorders of mood, so as to maximise rehabilitation potential and quality of life

To apply for this post, you will:
  • Registration as an Applied Clinical Psychologist with the HCPC
  • Pre and post qualification training in specialist assessment and treatment of adults with cognitive and neurological impairments, neuropsychological assessment, research methodology and staff training
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for patients' psychological care assessment and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of an interdisciplinary care plan
  • Hold a full, valid UK driving licence and have access to car for business purposes
