Job Details

Quantity Surveyors manage the costs relating to construction projects, and they are involved throughout the lifecycle of construction. At Taylor Woodrow Trainee Quantity Surveyors will work within project teams to understand and safeguard the commercial position, whilst developing an understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes relating to contracts and management of our supply chain.

Duties will include:

Cost Engineering:
  • Gather data & carry out research on current construction costs under supervision
  • Measure, record & value work supervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures

  • Record progress on site and help prepare and maintain records

Project Management:
  • Collation of Cost and Value Information

  • Collect information required to specify procurement requirements
  • Record and document information including registration of interest
  • Understand the steps / documentation required

Commercial Management:
  • Collation of cost and value information
  • Measurement of works and provide information on subcontractors' performance

All offers will be conditional on completion and submission of an evidence pack provided to employers by LSBU.
  • Level BBB
  • BTEC National Diploma DDM
  • Access to HE qualifications with 24 Distinctions 21 Merits
  • Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 128 UCAS points
  • Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C/8-4 including math's and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4/C, equivalent or above)

We welcome qualifications from around the world. English language qualifications for international students: IELTS score of 6.0 or Cambridge Proficiency or Advanced Grade C.

Advanced entry:
  • An apprentice holding a surveying/building related BTEC HNC/HND/Foundation degree with specific grades will be considered for Level 5 entry. Each apprentice will be considered on a case by case basis and may require an interview

Future prospects

  • You must adhere to all safety regulations and Protective Personal Equipment requirements
  • Sometimes you may be required to work outside of the regular working hours and be prepared to get up in the morning as we start early
