An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Nutrition and Dietetic Service at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust for a motivated and forward thinking individual to join the Dietetic Team in the role of Clinical Lead Dietitian for Gastroenterology.

The post is ideal for Clinical Band 7s wanting to move into a role with more management opportunities, or experienced Band 6 Dietitians looking for the next step of their career development. This is a full-time, permanent position. This post is being offered as a band 6 to band 7 training opportunity but if the successful candidate is felt to already meet the necessary competencies, they will commence as a Band 7. Due to the training/development element of this post, a learning agreement will be considered part of the contract.

The clinical duties of the post include: day to day management of the Gastroenterology ward (including enteral and parenteral feeding); weekly Dietetic led Gastroenetrology OP clinic; provide cover for the Nutrition Support Team/Parenteral Nutrition ward round, as required.

Management duties include: Line manager for the 2 Band 6 Gastroenterology Dietitians, 2 Band 6 Oncology Dietitians and shared responsibility for 4 band 5 Dietitians, including clinical supervision and appraisals; to oversee outpatient services for Gastroenterology and general clinics; work with the other Clinical Leads to support the Professional Advisor/Team Leader for Dietetics and the Therapy Service Lead; to act as audit lead for the department.

The Dietetic department is fully committed to CPD and clinical supervision and we take A, B and C students from Leeds Beckett University.

The post is based at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield. Pinderfields is one of 3 hospitals which make up The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, serving a population of around 550,000; the others are Dewsbury Hospital and Pontefract Hospital, with most of the Dietetic staff based in Pinderfields. The department also has a community remit including Adult and Paediatric Home Enteral Feeding and community diabetes.

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is well situated in the heart of West Yorkshire, with excellent travel links, being located close to the M1 and M62 motorways and rail networks. The Trust is in close proximity to Leeds and it's renowned shopping, museums and theatres, as well as being just a short distance from the Yorkshire Dales.
