Hours: 37.5 hours Full time plus additional weekend & Bank Holiday working on a rota basis including participation in the pharmacy on call service

Contract: 12 month fixed term (maternity leave cover for Deputy acting up into Chief Pharmacist role)

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Deputy Chief Pharmacist with management experience to join the Senior Pharmacy Team here at South Tees NHS Foundation Trust.

In this role you will be responsible for the leadership, management and strategic development of the operational and clinical pharmacy services across the Trust.

With a good knowledge of the medicines optimisation agenda, you will develop and manage the provision of a co-ordinated and comprehensive clinical pharmacy service for the Trust, ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines.

You will be responsible for supervising the duties of senior pharmacists and technicians within James Cook University Hospital and the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton to ensure we are compliant with national guidance.

You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills within the team and be able to work autonomously to meet specific deadlines. Excellent team-working abilities are a priority and will contribute to the process of service development and innovation within the department driven by your own initiative and enthusiasm.

As part of the Pharmacy Senior Management team you will contribute to the provision and development of medicine strategies in order to ensure safe and cost effective use of medication.

Experience within a team management role in a hospital setting of at least Band 8b is essential. Please see the Job description and person specification for further details.
